The key decision-making body is the Great Barrier Reef Ministerial Forum.

To ensure information is provided to the Ministerial Forum in the most appropriate format, a number of committees have been established. These committees help ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to implementation, and appropriate commitment of resources to actions.

Executive Steering Committee: provides implementation direction and comprises senior officers of the principal Australian and Queensland government agencies involved in the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan.

Partnership Committee: comprises senior representatives from Australian and Queensland government agencies, Regional Natural Resource Management Bodies of the reef catchments, industry bodies and conservation groups. For more information, see Partnership Committee.

Independent Science Panel: provides independent science-based and technical advice on Reef  water quality science needs including water quality monitoring and reporting programs. For more information, see Independent Science Panel.
