Management practices

The management practice adoption component of the Paddock to Reef program develops rigorous estimates of management practice benchmarks and change for the major agricultural industries of the Reef catchments—sugarcane, grazing, horticulture, grains and bananas.

The adoption of improved management practices is reported using industry and regional specific management practice frameworks (water quality risk frameworks).

Practices are ranked from those that have the lowest water quality risk to those that have the highest risk. More details are available in the water quality risk frameworks for each industry.

Landholder innovation and environmental stewardship is assessed according to the key social factors that influence agricultural industries to adopt particular management practices. Read more about social monitoring in this fact sheet (PDF, 492.5KB) .
