The key decision-making body is the Great Barrier Reef Ministerial Forum.
To ensure information is provided to the Ministerial Forum in the most appropriate format, a number of committees have been established. These committees help ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to implementation, and appropriate commitment of resources to actions.
Reef 2050 Advisory Committee: provides stakeholder advice to the Ministerial Forum on implementation of the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan and the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan.
Reef 2050 Plan Independent Expert Panel: provides independent scientific expert advice to the Ministerial Forum on implementation of the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan and advice on expenditure under the Australian Government’s Reef Trust.
Independent Science Panel: forms a working group of the Reef 2050 Plan Independent Expert Panel and provides independent science-based and technical advice on Reef water quality science needs including water quality monitoring and reporting programs.
Executive Steering Committee: provides implementation direction and comprises senior officers of the principal Australian and Queensland government agencies involved in the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan.
